  2. I think the treatment they recieve at the Triangle Factory is unfair. They work so hard and then they are forced to walk downstairs instead of the elevator. They don't even have fire escapes. The girls are working in VERY tight quarters!!!! sounds harsh to me!!!!!

  7. Hey what's up?!?!?!?!?!?!? I'm reading Ashes of Roses, and its a historical fiction book about a 16 yr. old girl from Ireland who immigrates to America. When they are on Ellis Island, they get some shocking news! Her little brother Joseph has an eye disease! Her Da takes Joseph back to Ireland while Rose, Ma, Maureen, and little Bridget go to America. They live with their Uncle Patrick and his bratty wife and daughters. When Ma gets homesick, and tired of living with such annoying people, she decides that they are all going to go home. When she lets Rose and Maureen stay, she goes home, and Rose tries to find a job. she finds one at the Triangle Factory where they make clothes. She makes lots of friends...but is she making enough to support her and Maureen? Will she let Maureen help her with work? Will Ma and Da come back? Read this awesome book to find out!!!!!!

P.S. Don't judge a book by its cover because the cover of this book looks really boring but its a good book to read. :)

  8. Ashes of Roses is really good! I thought it would be bad because of the cover but it's actually great! I think that they should be treated a little better at the factory because they work so hard all day and don't even get to use the elevator when the days over!!! At least most of the people that work there are nice. Plus she has Gussie for a teacher.

  10. Freak the Mighty is an incredible example of what true friendship is! If only we could all be as understanding and tolerant as these two characters are, the world would be a much better place.

This book is also a great illustration of voice in writing, plus true character development. Even if you're not reading it for Book Club, you should!
